Traders,

I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend!

As important as it is to press when the A+ opportunity is there, it’s as important to know when to reel it in and not be overly eager or aggressive. While there are certainly pockets of opportunity in this market, they’re not as abundant as they were in earlier months this year.

As I often go over in Inside Access, it’s important to understand the current market structure and regime, and to track which A+ strats are working or consistently present. When I come into a week, if the overall market positioning and trend aren’t entirely favorable for follow-through, and there aren’t any A+ consolidation breakout opps, mean reversion, capitulatory long setups, a hot small-cap sector, etc., I’ll typically size down with expectations in check.

That’s the case right now.

So, with all that said, here are a few ideas on my radar… and some potential opportunities I am monitoring.

Continuation in Memory: MU – SNDK – SOXL – DRAM

I discussed this opportunity at length during Thursday’s Inside Access meeting. The opportunity represented a textbook consolidation breakout pattern. Of course, it was a bit more nuanced, as key economic data was scheduled for Friday at 8:30am.

I stuck to my plan and capitalized on Friday’s breakout in memory, mostly by going long MUU. I booked gains on Friday, and carried some over the long weekend for potential follow-through. What’s my plan going forward? If we gap and go, or flat open and follow through on Tuesday, I’ll focus on exiting the position / reducing my long and trailing the rest.

If we gap lower and find support near the 2-day / selloff toward the two-day and reclaim, and reclaim intraday, I’ll look to add as long as we are showing notable continued relative strength. Alternatively, if we hold weak sub multi-day VWAP, I’ll exit as I can always get back in later if things change.

Backside Short in BIAF

Following the blowout move on Friday of shorts, and steady reversal into the close and extended session, I’d be looking for a push into the mid-teens and stuff to take a stab on the short side, against the HOD. If volume dries up significantly, I’d likely avoid this, as backside shorts haven’t been a standout area of performance in recent months with low floats. For now, I’ve just set alerts in the name.

Crypto Remains on Watch: IBIT, ETHU

Another main idea I had on Thursday was a potential second-leg breakout in crypto (IBIT, ETHU). I didn’t like the reaction to the 8:30 am jobs number print on Friday, so I exited that long swing position.

Now, I’ll be hands-off and looking for Ethereum and Bitcoin to further build out their consolidation and ideally set up a fresh entry. This time, I won’t be positioned long ahead of the move. So, in order to get long again for a potential second leg higher, I’ll need price to break above resistance as the trigger to get long for a consolidation breakout and a 3+ day hold. A lot needs to happen after Friday’s move, so I’ll be patient and keep tabs on it.

Monitoring MRNA For A Range Break

Right now, I only have alerts set in MRNA. Why? On a higher timeframe (the daily), the stock is doing a great job digesting the move as it consolidates and contracts in both range and volume. There’s no need to be predictive here. I’ll be setting alerts near support and resistance of the range, and waiting for volume to expand and break out above or below a key level for reactive intraday trades, and potentially a swing entry.

Alerts in USDE

As long as there’s no offering in the coming days / structurally the story doesn’t change here, and this continues to hold up near prior 2-week highs, along with a constructive crypto market, I’ll continue to monitor USDE. A major area of resistance near 9 has proven itself over multiple weeks. I’d be looking for a breakout with volume to enter long for an intraday move and squeeze out.
