One of Taylor Sheridan‘s Paramount+ Western TV shows has officially been added to Netflix‘s library. Starting today, all eight episodes of the 2023 miniseries Lawmen: Bass Reeves are finally available to stream on Netflix.
What do we know about Taylor Sheridan’s Western show?
Lawmen: Bass Reeves was executive-produced and led by Emmy nominee David Oyelowo as the titular character. He was joined by Lauren E. Banks, Demi Singleton, Forrest Goodluck, Barry Pepper, Grantham Coleman, Donald Sutherland, Dennis Quaid, Shea Whigham, and Garrett Hedlund. Since its debut in 2023, the show has received a 79% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while its Popcornmeter score is higher at 93%.
“Revealing the untold story of the most legendary lawman in the Old West, the series follows the journey of Reeves and his rise from enslavement to law enforcement as one of the first Black U.S. Deputy Marshals west of the Mississippi,” reads the official synopsis. “Despite arresting over 3,000 outlaws during the course of his career, the weight of the badge was heavy, and he wrestled with its moral and spiritual cost to his beloved family.”
Lawmen: Bass Reeves was created and executive-produced by showrunner Chad Feehan. It was originally developed as a standalone anthology series, with future seasons revolving around stories about other iconic lawmen and outlaws who have impacted history. Executive producers were Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Jessica Oyelowo, David Permut, Christina Alexandra Voros, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, and David Hutkin. The series was a production by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, Bosque Ranch Productions, and Yoruba Saxon.
