Steven Spielberg’s upcoming sci-fi thriller, Disclosure Day, is facing an unexpected release setback overseas. The film will now arrive months later in one of the world’s biggest movie markets.

The delay comes even as early reactions to the film have been largely positive. The schedule change has already sparked concerns among fans about spoilers spreading long before some audiences get to watch it.

While Disclosure Day is set to hit U.S. theaters on June 12, audiences in Japan will have to wait much longer. The film’s Japanese release has reportedly been pushed from July 10 to October 1, creating a gap of nearly four months between its U.S. and Japanese debuts.

The timing issue arrives alongside another concern. Recent trailers and promotional clips have led some viewers to wonder whether too much of the story is already being revealed before release. Disclosure Day marks Spielberg’s return to large-scale alien science fiction. The story follows a character played by Josh O’Connor, who gains access to classified information involving extraterrestrial beings.

Emily Blunt plays a weather presenter who appears to experience strange supernatural effects, while Colin Firth’s character seeks to stop the truth from becoming public. Behind the camera, Spielberg directs from a screenplay by longtime collaborator David Koepp. The project is produced through Amblin Entertainment, with legendary composer John Williams once again providing the score.
