Days of Our Lives recently hinted at a comeback for the late Stefano DiMera, one of the most iconic villains in the show’s history. The legendary actor who played the role, Joseph Mascolo, passed away in 2016. But the impact of Stefano remains strong and abundant even now, especially on the DiMera family. Dan Feuerriegel, the actor who portrays Stefano’s son EJ, has shared his character’s true feelings about his father.

Dan Feuerriegel, who plays EJ on Days of Our Lives, recently talked to Soaps.com about Stefano DiMera, one of the greatest soap opera villains of all time.

“Regardless of whether you talk about it or not, the legacy is there,” Feuerriegel said. “I mean, his painting’s up on the wall in the mansion….I talk to it all the time….I always go for it for advice or to get things off my chest. It’s just part of the DiMera family,” he added.

It is quite clear that Stefano is the backbone of the DiMera dynasty. The family would not even have been there without the character. Calling it the “DiMera legacy,” Feuerriegel stated, “That’s what EJ is trying to keep alive. It is of the utmost importance, because if you think about it, if there was no Stefano, what would the DiMeras be? Nothing. They wouldn’t be the DiMeras.”

He further delved into the impact Stefano has had on EJ, noting how life hasn’t always been easy for his character simply for being the son of Stefano DiMera. He said, “But it’s a part of his life…And he so fully believes in the family legacy that it is what it is. It is DiMera.” He continued, “It’s not a burden at all…Legacy is important. Obviously, EJ talks about how hard sometimes it was growing up underneath Stefano, but it made him the man that he is today. Not very well-liked, but it’s made him the man that he is today.”

So, it seems clear that Stefano DiMera remains a very important character, and if Days of Our Lives utilizes him even now, he would make a good addition.
