All 3 Seasons of Canceled NBC Show Arriving on Netflix

All three seasons of an NBC time-travel series are making their way to Netflix’s streaming library next month. It follows a group of survivors who are transported to a dangerous underground world after falling into a massive sinkhole in LA.

La Brea is coming to Netflix in May

La Brea Season 1-3 will begin streaming on Netflix on Friday, May 1, 2026 (via Collider).

David Appelbaum, known for Mentalist and NCIS: New Orleans, developed the show for NBC. It originally aired on the network on September 28, 2021. The series comprises 30 episodes, and its finale, titled “The Road Home, Part 2”, was broadcast on February 13, 2024.

The show begins with a massive sinkhole appearing in Los Angeles. It pulls hundreds of people into a mysterious world filled with ancient wildlife. Meanwhile, the authorities on the surface learn that the sinkhole is a time portal that transported its victims to 10,000 BC.

The story mainly centers on the Harrison family, who are separated in the disaster. While Eve and her son, Josh, try to survive the underworld, Gavin and his daughter, Izzy, are on the surface as they try to reunite with the rest of the family. 

La Brea features an expansive cast including Natalie Zea as Eve, Eoin Macken as Gavin, Chiké Okonkwo as Ty, Karina Logue as Marybeth, Zyra Gorecki as Izzy, Jack Martin as Josh, Veronica St. Clair as Riley, and Rohan Mirchandaney as Scott, among others.

Throughout its run, the series received mixed reception. On Rotten Tomatoes, it currently holds an average viewer score of 46% across all three seasons. Meanwhile, Metacritic reports a weighted average critic score of 44 and a user score of 4.1 for the premiere season.

Reportedly, La Brea Season 1 opened with a healthy viewership of over 6.37 million. However, the season ended with 4.94 million. To make things worse, Season 2’s viewership dropped significantly to 1.77 million. The third installment, however, saw an improvement, resulting in 2.42 million viewers. But NBC ultimately opted not to renew the show.
