Zack Snyder has not watched Joss Whedon’s theatrical cut of Justice League. However, he revealed one detail from the film that he found amusing during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz.

Snyder explained that his wife Debbie warned him against ever watching the theatrical version. “When Debbie came back to me after watching the cut of Justice League, the Joss cut of Justice League, and she said, ‘You are to never see that movie,'” Snyder recalled. He admitted that moment essentially marked the end of his time in the DC universe.

Despite never watching the full film, Snyder shared that he became aware of one specific detail through memes. He described a moment in the title sequence that caught his attention. “On my where it says directed by Zack Snyder, there is a homeless person that has a I think they have a thing that says I tried,” Snyder explained during the Toronto International Film Festival conversation.

Rather than expressing bitterness, Snyder found the visual darkly entertaining. “I was like wow that’s cool. That’s a good like if I hadn’t done my Justice League that would have been the end of it, right?” he said. The director acknowledged that without the Snyder Cut’s eventual release, that image would have defined his DC legacy permanently.

Snyder premiered his new independent film The Last Photograph at TIFF during the same festival appearance. He also discussed upcoming projects including the 300 prequel series and his Escape from New York remake. The director confirmed he plans to direct at least a portion of the television series. Snyder has also written 10 of 12 episodes for his long-gestating Fountainhead limited series adaptation.
