Young & Restless’ Michael Mealor Reveals Bizarre Reason Why Kyle Proposed to Claire

Kyle has proposed to Claire on The Young and the Restless. However, it comes under very questionable circumstances. The proposal also happens for a reason that is dubious. Actor Michael Mealor recently spoke about this proposal in a new interview. He gave a glimpse at Kyle’s reasoning behind the sudden decision.

While Kyle and Claire’s proposal should have been a huge event, the motivation behind it has dampened things significantly. Whatever happened between Audra and Kyle while they were trapped on Cane’s estate became the catalyst behind Kyle suddenly popping the question to Claire. He feared that he would lose her after she found out what transpired between him and Audra.

“I think, honestly, he was scared,” Michael Mealor told Soap Opera Digest about Kyle not telling Claire about Audra. But eventually he is confronted to tell the truth, the whole truth. “Unfortunately, he makes the decision for her. And so, because of that, he thinks that, you know, what happens in Nice will stay in Nice, and he thinks he can get away with it,” he says of trying to protect Claire from getting hurt.

But when Claire did learn it and was furious about it, as one would expect, Kyle tried to right the wrong by proposing. “It’s the logical reaction, right?,” Mealor told Sopa Opera Digest, “Like I said, Kyle doesn’t think it’s going to be as bad as it is, until he sees the reaction. That’s when the reality sets in of, ‘Oh, wow, yeah, no. It is just that bad times 10.’ When he does come clean, he knows it’s going to hurt, but he doesn’t realize how much.”

“He has to prove to Claire how in love he is with her and only her, and how much passion he has for her,” he added about the proposal. “I really think he’s fueled by his fear that he’s going to lose Claire, he concluded after deciphering the proposal.

Either way, the motivation is far from a conventional one, and this could lead to something not so pretty in the future of Young and Restless.
