On paper, Rango sounds like a joke pitch. Johnny Depp voices a pet lizard who stumbles into a dusty Western town and somehow becomes its sheriff. In practice, it turned into one of the strangest and best mainstream animated movies of the 2010s. Now it is heading to Kanopy for free on April 24.
