Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) received a big old slap at her interrupted wedding to Austin Reed on Days of Our LivesAdam Newman was presumed dead on Young and Restless, Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada) made a shocking reveal to her captive, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), on Bold and Beautiful and other big moments from September 2.

In 1992, General Hospital's Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) and Dominique Stanton (Shell Danielson) — who, the previous day, had woken up together in Las Vegas and realized that they had drunkenly gotten married the night before — took a chartered plane back to Port Charles and bickered. There was one thing they could agree on, though: that they wanted a divorce as soon as possible! Of course, in true soap fashion, the pair did genuinely fall in love and ultimately renewed their vows, but Dominique and Scotty's happiness was cut tragically short when she died of a fatal brain tumor. Lucy Coe, who had agreed to serve as a surrogate for the couple, gave birth to the duo's daughter, Serena, after Dominique passed away.

In 1997, Days of Our Lives's Carrie (Christie Clark) stopped Austin and Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) wedding, armed with the proof that Sami had lied about Will's paternity — he was Lucas's son, not Austin's! In the build to the big day, an amnesia-feigning Sami was overjoyed when Austin popped the question, but Carrie wasn’t ready to concede just yet, and searched for evidence of her sister’s underhandedness. Sami’s twin, Eric, agreed to help. To buy Carrie time, Roman delayed the vows by faking a fainting spell. Meanwhile, Mike helped Carrie get proof that Lucas, not Austin, was young Will’s father. She burst into the church to reveal that Sami had been lying to Austin. The groom took Carrie at her word and called the nups to a halt (“Carrie wouldn’t have stopped the ceremony if she didn’t have a good reason,” he noted). Carrie then proffered Will’s bloodwork, which showed he couldn’t possibly be Austin’s child. Over Sami’s stammering denials, Carrie declared victory and punched her sister in the face!

In 2003, General Hospital’s Emily Bowen-Quartermaine (Natalia Livingston) and Zander Smith (Chad Brannon) wed on what appeared to be breast cancer-stricken Emily's deathbed. Nikolas watched mournfully from outside of her hospital room as they exchanged their vows before Elizabeth, Gia and Lucky.

In 2016, Adam Newman was presumed dead in a burning cabin — thanks to the actions of a vengeful Chloe Mitchell — as Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) watched in horror on Young and Restless. Chloe’s culpability was exposed the following year, and in 2019, Adam resurfaced, alive and suffering from explosion-induced amnesia (and played by a new actor, Mark Grossman, who assumed the role from Justin Hartley).

In 2024 on Bold and Beautiful, unhinged Luna Nowaza (Lisa Yamada, r.) gleefully admitted to her hostage, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), that she was not actually drugged the night she had sex with Zende Forrester as she had previously claimed. Boasting to Steffy that it had been the best sex of her life, Luna revealed that she had planned the whole thing — sleeping with Zende while making RJ believe she hadn't cheated on him with his cousin — and gotten away with it, just like she would get away with the murders she had committed and now, holding Steffy captive. Opposite this, Steffy's loved ones, Finn in particular, grew more worried about her whereabouts, and Finn told Bill that he suspected Luna was somehow involved in his wife's disappearance.
