X-Men ’97 Season 2 first trailer pits the mutants against Apocalypse. The new season arrives nearly two years after the first to continue the heroic mutants’ adventures following X-Men: The Animated Series.
“X-Men ’97 Season 2 continues with the heroic mutant team of X-Men, divided and thrown across different eras in time as they struggle to navigate their return home,” reads the new season’s synopsis. “Meanwhile, back in the 1990s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are on the rise in the wake of the X-Men’s absence.”

What do we see in the X-Men ’97 Season 2 trailer?
Picking up after Season 1’s end, the trailer reveals that the X-Men have been scattered throughout time. Footage shows the heroes stranded in both the distant past and a far future, ruled by Apocalypse. Meanwhile, the remaining heroes in the 1990s struggle to find a way to bring them back.
The trailer also shows Morph shapeshifting into Deadpool, offering a nod to the larger Marvel universe. The final shot shows an array of X-Men united to face off against an unknown enemy, presumably Apocalypse. It also includes new looks at Polaris and other familiar faces. Fans eager for the new season can read up on the official comic book prelude ahead of its debut.
Season 2 of the show will consist of nine episodes. X-Men ’97’s voice cast includes Ross Marquand as Professor X, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, and George Buza as Beast.
X-Men ’97 is executive produced by Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, Julia Lewald, Eric Lewald, Larry Houston, and Beau DeMayo. Its supervising producer is Jake Castorena. Episodes written by JB Ballard, Beau DeMayo, Bailey Moore, Antony Sellitti, Brian Ford Sullivan, and Mariah Wilson. Emmett Yonemura and Chase Conley are Season 2’s episodic directors.
X-Men ’97 releases on July 1, 2026, on Disney+. A third season is already in production.
