As part of WLT’s ongoing centennial celebrations, The Art of the Literary Magazine: The Top 10 Covers of World Literature Today (1977–2026) will open at OU’s Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art on Thursday, September 17 and remain on view through the end of December. The public is cordially invited to attend the opening reception from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the museum’s Cup of Jones café and gift shop.

The reception will include refreshments and a welcome by FJJMA director Thomas Brent Smith and WLT executive director RC Davis-Undiano, who will also announce the results of the poll that asked readers to choose their favorite cover of the past 50 years. The winning artist or photographer will also speak briefly during the program.

In a special preview that will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the museum’s Sandy Bell Gallery, OU School of Dance professor Brandye Lee will introduce a selection drawn from Unbound: A Mother’s Love, her three-part original ballet set to premiere during Banned Books Week in Washington, DC, in October 2026.

Copies of the magazine’s centennial anthology, A Compass on the Navigable Sea, will be available for sale and signing at the opening, along with WLT’s centennial issue. All royalties derived from sales of the anthology are being donated to WLT’s student scholarship funds.

The opening is free and open to the general public (admission will be waived that evening). The exhibition is being made possible, in part, by a grant from the Norman Arts Council’s Hotel Tax Grant Program.
