Among the various fan-made terminologies within the anime community, few are more widely recognized than the term “Big 3”. The term originated as a nickname for One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach, the biggest and best anime of the 2000s, and since then, people have constantly tried to rework it to refer to other anime and manga, whether it’s attributing it to a specific genre, more modern anime, or even saying that the big 3 should refer to different anime from the original lineup, even though that misses the point of why the Big 3 of anime is even a thing.
