What Happens Between Aemond & Alicent in House of the Dragon & the Books?

Viewers want to know whether Aemond and Alicent ever slept together in House of the Dragon or the Fire & Blood book. This curiosity was piqued after an intimate scene between the duo in Aemond’s vision. No, Aemond and Alicent didn’t sleep together in the books or show, nor did they share any romantic relationship.

The speculation about intimacy in this mother-son complex bond emerged following the latest scene from Season 3, Episode 7. In it, Aemond remains busy training in his room at Harrenhal. All of a sudden, Alicent makes an entry, further regarding him as “best son” and appreciating him for his decision to stay at Harrenhal. She informs him that Aegon is dead and Helaena has been held hostage. While she blames herself for not being a good enough mother, Aemond steps in to comfort her. This seemingly emotional moment turns physical as the duo kisses each other passionately and then starts lovemaking.

Immediately, when she rolls over him and talks about giving him a son, Aemond realizes that he was hallucinating Alys as Alicent. He stops their physical moments and gets dressed in a hurry as Alys continues to ask him what he saw in his vision. At the same time, real Alicent comes to the castle and informs him that Ser Adrian helped her reach safely.  

She gets horrified when Aemond greets Ser Adrian and kills him brutally, right in front of her eyes. Aemond cites the reason for murdering him as that he’s unable to trust outsiders and that the place is full of secrets. As Alicent continues to process the disturbing scene, Alys calls everyone to have dinner.
