Weâre The Center Ki Tasty Tikkiâ: Shah Rukh Khan Gives a Cheeky Update on Kingâs Release Date

The release of a Shah Rukh Khan film is nothing short of a festival for his fans. Which is why they have been waiting with bated breath for the release of his upcoming actioner, King. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film is scheduled to hit theatres on December 24 this year. The makers first unveiled the title and an action-packed glimpse of the film on November 2, 2025, on the occasion of Shah Rukh Khan’s 60th birthday. Fans are now eagerly awaiting the trailer and more promotional assets from the film.

However, King is arriving during a particularly crowded December. Two major Hollywood releases, Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three, are scheduled to hit theatres on December 18, just six days before King. The Christmas weekend will see further competition, with Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Telugu action drama Dada and Maddock Films’ horror-comedy Shakti Shalini both scheduled to release on December 24, the same day as King.

Amid the crowded release calendar, speculation had been doing the rounds about whether King would move from its December 24 date. Today, during an Ask Me Anything session on X (formerly Twitter, SRK responded to a fan who asked him if there would be a change in the film’s release date. The superstar, however, had a cheeky response.

The netizen wrote, "Srk sir king to sandwich jaisa fas gya hai kya date change hoga? @iamsrk (SRK sir, King is stuck like a sandwich. Will the release date be changed?)"
To this, the superstar replied, "Not at all....Baaki bread pieces ka bhi toh socho....hum toh center ki tasty Tikki hain. (“Not at all... Think about the other pieces of bread too. We’re the tasty tikki in the centre.”)

With his response, Shah Rukh Khan has indicated that King remains on track for its December 24 release.

The film is directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures. It stars Shah Rukh Khan alongside Suhana Khan, with Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Rani Mukerji, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Raghav Juyal and Abhay Verma, among others.

King marks Siddharth Anand’s second collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan after Pathaan and is being positioned as an action thriller. The film also marks Suhana Khan’s theatrical debut alongside her father.
