Marvel Television’s long-awaited series VisionQuest has made its debut with a surprise screening of the first episode at New York Comic Con on October 8, 2026.
The series, led by showrunner Terry Matalas, is positioned as the final installment of a thematic trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued through Agatha All Along. According to Marvel.com, the eight-episode season will officially premiere on Disney+ on October 14, 2026, with a special two-episode launch.
The series introduces human manifestations of classic Marvel AI personas.
The Return of Vision and Ultron
The core of the series follows the “White Vision” introduced in the 2021 finale of WandaVision. Early plot details reveal that Vision has been living in human disguise in Edinburgh, Scotland—a location significant to his history with Wanda Maximoff—working at a pub the couple once frequented. His quiet life is disrupted by the arrival of a bounty hunter named Paladin, portrayed by Todd Stashwick, who is reportedly hunting the synthetic hero.
The series features the return of James Spader as Ultron. Rather than appearing as the metallic world-conqueror from Avengers: Age of Ultron, Spader reportedly portrays a “human” AI persona existing within Vision’s internal programming. This dynamic explores a “Father/Son/Grandfather” relationship as Vision attempts to understand his purpose, joined by his reincarnated son Tommy Maximoff, played by Ruaridh Mollica.
The cast is rounded out by an “AI Squad” of actors portraying the human embodiments of former Stark Industries and Vision interfaces. This includes Emily Hampshire as the human form of E.D.I.T.H.
VisionQuest Release Schedule
Marvel is utilizing a hybrid distribution model for the series, which spans five weeks through late October and early November. The release structure aims to build momentum heading into the fall season.
October 14: Episodes 1 and 2 (Premiere) October 21: Episodes 3 and 4 October 28: Episodes 5 and 6 November 4: Episode 7 (Penultimate) November 11: Episode 8 (Season Finale)As noted by Nerdist, this rollout strategy ensures a consistent presence on the platform leading up to the final resolution of Vision’s arc. While fans continue to speculate on a possible appearance by Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff in the finale, the series focus remains firmly on Vision’s philosophical journey of self-discovery and his complex reunion with his creator-antagonist, Ultron.
