Given how long Emmerdale’s Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) was in prison for, there’s an awful lot Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) doesn’t know about him.
She’s reminded of this fact this coming week, as she walks in on Robert holding hands with a man called Kev (Chris Coghill).
On Friday, Robert found Aaron at the scrapyard trying to burn some of John Sugden’s (Oliver Farnworth) old belongings.
The beloved character was in distress, struggling with everything that’s happened over the past few weeks.
Aaron returned to the village after spending days in a coma, which only occurred because John threw them both from a gorge.
Prior to this moment, Aaron had discovered John was the reason Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) had gone missing, and that he was responsible for killing Nate.
One of the main things that Aaron is having trouble processing is the fact John did such a good job at manipulating him.

He currently feels that if he acted differently in the relationship and spotted John’s odd behaviour sooner, his reign over the village would’ve ended quicker.
Full of self loathing, Aaron can’t help but blame himself.
Wanting to calm him down, Robert took Aaron home. There, he explained that the police had given him items from John’s van and the cottage, because they had no reason to keep them.
Robert comforted Aaron, but he pushed him away when Aaron leaned in for a kiss. Robert said that while being with Aaron is what he wants, processing what has happened to him needs to be a priority.

Outside the pub a while later, Aaron respected Robert’s comments. He agreed to letting Robert help him get through the next few weeks, and the both of them decided it would work better if they did it just as friends.
As Robert walked home, his phone pinged. He had received a text from a man called K, who told Robert to stop ignoring him.
Kev is played by former EastEnders star Chris Coghill. After asking for directions to a location, it becomes apparent that he is looking for Robert.

In this new video, we see the dynamic between Robert and Kev for the first time.
The clip begins with Robert telling Kev that he’s gutted for him, after clearly learning some worrying news. Kev asks Robert to ‘distract him’ but before anything can happen, Vic arrives.
She’s surprised to see Robert so close to this stranger, who actually knows quite a bit about her. Kev mentions how nice it is to meet Victoria at last and the next time he visits, he intends to bring something for Harry.

We already know that Robert and Kev met each other in prison, but what was the extent of their relationship while inside?
And what news has Robert learnt about him?
On joining the long-running serial drama, former Shameless star Chris said: ‘I am really happy to be joining the cast of Emmerdale.
‘Kev is definitely going to shake things up a bit and I’m looking forward to getting cracking!’
