It’d been a quiet few months for James Bailey (Jason Callender) on the romantic front in Coronation Street, but things heated up recently with a hotel hook up…
Since his return to the cobbles, James’ focussed mostly on the adoption of his biological niece, Laila, after big sister Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) thought her brother and then-partner, Danny, would be a perfect choice to raise her child in America.
Unfortunately, Danny, who’d moved to the States ahead of James, had a wandering eye and when James discovered his partners infidelity, he returned to the Street with Laila in tow.
While things have proven difficult with Laila being in such close proximity to Dee-Dee, the two have settled into a nice routine.

While a brief attraction to Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) came to nothing following the intervention of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), James’ love life has been pretty dead recently.
However, it seems as though things might be on the up for the ex-footballer when he was revealed to have shared a steamy hotel session with Street lothario, Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard)…
Fans jaws dropped when it was revealed that it wasn’t just women that whet sly Carl’s appetite…
Speaking on the shock twist, Jonathan said: ‘Carl likes living life on the edge, he is a hedonist and a free spirit, he is attracted to a person regardless of their gender and if he sees something he wants he goes for it with no real thought to the consequences of his actions.’

‘There is a spark between him and James so he goes for it. Tracy [Barlow] (Kate Ford) was also offering herself to him but he isn’t stupid and he knows that would be a dangerous move, James on the other hand is less complicated and more fun.’
Talk about being spoiled for choice…
Next week, Dee-Dee asks James to watch Laila while she goes on a date with new flame Ollie (Raphael Akuwudike), he’s evidently unimpressed and it’s clear that he had other, more romantic plans.

With both James and Carl declaring they weren’t looking for anything serious following their afternoon together, has Carl reignited the romantic spark in James?
Or is James holding a candle for crafty Carl? Alongside Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Dutting). And Tracy…kinda.
