The last person you want to poison on Coronation Street is Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).
The sharpest tongue on the Cobbles has already survived one poisoning attempt at the hands of her new twisted boyfriend Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield), only she doesn’t know it yet.
Now Tracy’s on the warpath over another attempt to poison the Barlows, and it’s about to tear a business – and a family – apart.
The culprit? Weatherfield’s premier puntastic curry house, Speed Daal.
The poison? Some dodgy meat.
Who’d have thought some past-its-best biryani might trigger an all out war between Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and her ruthless beau Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) as they take on Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) in an all-out restaurant war that ends in damning accusations and ultimatums?
A raging Tracy faces off with Leanne after the Barlow clan come down with food poisoning, and it isn’t long until Idris is drowning in complaints from other customers – all having been struck down with sickness after eating at Speed Dahl.
Chef Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike) conducts a full inspection of the food in the kitchen and the entire restaurant team are floored to learn that all of the meat served the previous night was well past its sell by date.
Leanne’s struck – Nick was responsible for the delivery. Surely he’s not trying to sabotage her business?
Always quick to make a bad situation worse, Tracy’s soon lingering around Leanne like a bad smell making demands; where there’s blame, there’s almost certainly a claim, and she wants a healthy serving of compensation for the funky food that left her family sick.
Idris is at the end of his tether and decides that it’s Nick that needs to pay for what’s befallen Speed Dahl, and he rallies Leanne to join him in confronting her ex, demanding he show some accountability.
Soon after, the bistro falls victim to some truly awful online reviews, and with their reputation in the gutter, customers start cancelling left and right, leaving Nick terrified for the future of his business.
As things continue to get worse for the bistro, Nick tells Leanne that they’ve swapped out their usual meat supplier for cheaper supermarket options, and Leanne’s struck with an idea: why doesn’t he sell the bistro before he loses anymore minute?
Toyah’s less than impressed with the suggestion and accuses Leanne and Idris of sabotaging them to try and buy the business at a knock-down price, while Idris later needles Nick over the bistro’s struggles, before suggesting that Nick sell the place back to Leanne.
Is Toyah right? Has her sister become as ruthless as her new beau? Will Leanne and Idris expand their eatery empire?
