Forget dogged reporters and invasive interviewers – many parents know their interrogative techniques have nothing on the fact-finding missions of curious kids.
This was a reality Tom Holland discovered fast on the classroom show, Celebrity Substitute. The premise of the series is simple: big names like Quinta Brunson and Millie Bobby Brown act as “substitute” teachers for a class full of children.
But, in this case, Tom – who recently briefly confirmed his marriage to Spider-Man co-star Zendaya after months of speculation – was the one learning a lesson.
Victor, one of the students, outright asked the Spider-Man star: “Are you married?”
The actor replied, “Uh, that is a very important question. I am–,” he started, before pausing, seemingly to collect his thoughts.
“You guys obviously haven’t been media trained like the publicists that I speak with.”
In a separate part of the show, where students give standalone interviews, an unsatisfied Victor pressed his point.
He concluded that the couple are “definitely married”, before adding: “I don’t know why [Tom] avoided my question.”
Still, other juvenile journos got more detailed responses.
For instance, when student Kayson asked whether the The Odyssey actor ever took Zendaya on dates, Tom responded: “Yeah, all the time... [it’s] my favourite thing to do.”
