2026 has been a quiet year for Tom Cruise so far, but one of his movies with another huge star that’s more than 30 years old is finally getting its due on streaming. Cruise hasn’t starred in a movie so far this year, but he’s coming for his first official Oscar next month with the release of Digger, the sweeping drama/epic directed by Alejandro G. Iñárittu. Cruise is all but guaranteed to earn an Oscar nod for his performance in the film, and many experts are predicting he’ll win the award, especially knowing how much Oscar voters love a good narrative — few stories can match Cruise finally winning for Best Lead Actor after all he’s given cinema over the years. Cruise last graced the screen in 2025 with his Mission: Impossible swan song, The Final Reckoning.
