Tiger Woods’ girlfriend Vanessa Trump breaks silence on his DUI arrest

Vanessa Trump has sent Tiger Woods a public message of support after his car crash and DUI arrest.

Woods was jailed last Friday after crashing his Range Rover while attempting to overtake a truck at high speed near his home in Jupiter Island, Florida.

An arrest affidavit released on Tuesday said that Woods had ‘bloodshot and glassy’ eyes and ‘extremely dilated’ pupils when observed by the investigating officers at the scene.

The 15-time major champion was also said to be ‘sweating profusely’ and was ‘lethargic and slow’. He was also in possession of two hydrocodone tablets, a prescription opioid used to treat severe, chronic pain.

Vanessa Trump, the former wife of Donald Trump Jr, has been dating Woods publicly since March last year and was understood to be furious with his his latest car crash.

But on Friday, Vanessa showed her support to Woods for the first time since the incident as she posted a picture of them together with the caption: ‘Love you’.

On Thursday, Florida police released bodycam footage detailing the aftermath of Woods’ crash.

In one clip, Woods is heard telling police that he had spoken on the phone with President Donald Trump – Vanessa’s former father-in-law, who is also a friend of the golf legend.

Woods was asked how much he had to drink, to which he replied: ‘None.’

Asked if he was on medication, Woods said: ‘I take a few, yes.’

After undergoing sobriety exercises, Woods was then told by an officer: ‘I do believe your normal faculties are impaired and you’re under [the influence of] an unknown substance.’

In a statement released this week, Woods said: ‘I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today.

‘I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.

‘This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery. I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger and more focused place, both personally and professionally.

‘I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.’
