Thrilling Patrick Dempsey Series Renewed for Season 2 by Fox

Patrick Dempsey’s latest thriller has quickly found its audience, and Fox is already doubling down. After a solid first season run and strong streaming numbers, the network has officially greenlit a second chapter for the series.

Memory of a Killer Renewed for Season 2 at Fox

Fox confirmed the renewal just as the Season 1 finale aired on April 6. The show, led by Patrick Dempsey and Michael Imperioli, became one of the network’s standout new dramas this year. It joins other renewed titles like Best Medicine, signaling Fox’s confidence in its fresh lineup (via Deadline).

The series had a major launch, premiering after the NFC Championship Game in January. That boost paid off, with the debut reaching 16.2 million viewers across platforms. It also pulled in 1.9 million streaming viewers, making it Fox’s biggest drama debut in six years, since 9-1-1: Lone Star. Even as live ratings dipped over time, the show stayed strong digitally, often ranking in Hulu’s daily top 10.

Behind the scenes, Aaron Zelman and Glenn Kessler will continue as showrunners. The story draws from a book and the 2003 Belgian film De Zaak Alzheimer. The production comes from Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment, with Dempsey also serving as an executive producer.

On screen, Dempsey plays Angelo Flannery, a man living a dangerous double life while slowly losing his memory. His situation gets worse when he suspects his wife’s death was not accidental, and his pregnant daughter becomes a target. Imperioli’s character, Dutch Forlanni, is highly interesting as both friend and employer in a criminal setup. The cast also includes the likes of Odeya Rush, Richard Harmon, and Peter Gadiot.

Fox executives also praised the show’s performances and emotional storytelling, calling it a “standout” that clearly connected with viewers.  Channing Dungey, Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros. Television Group and WBD US Networks, says they’re really “thrilled” that Memory of a Killer is coming back for a second season, adding that the show truly earned it because of its strong reviews and overall success. She also praised the performances of Patrick Dempsey and Michael Imperioli, calling them “powerful and compelling.”
