They Follow will bring back one special person who made the original movie unforgettable. The horror sequel to It Follows director reveals a major update regarding an essential collaborator for the next installment.
David Robert Mitchell confirms major It Follows talents are returning for They Follow
Helmed by David Robert Mitchell, 2015’s It Follows became an iconic horror film for multiple reasons. It had a captivating cast, a fantastic performance by lead actress Maika Monroe, and also a disturbingly creepy score. It was composed by a talented musician and artist, Richard Vreelard, best known by his stage name Disasterpeace.
It has now been revealed that Disasterpeace will return to compose the music for They Follow. Speaking with Empire, director Robert Mitchell shared the news with excitement. “Disasterpeace will be doing a score,” he said. “I wouldn’t want to do a sequel without him,” he added.
Disasterpeace played an inevitable role in the success of It Follows. His synth soundtrack created a horrifying atmosphere throughout the story. It was akin to the classic horror films by John Carpenter from the 1970s and 1980s. “That first movie is so much to do with his fantastic music, so I’m excited about seeing what he does with this.”

Besides familiar faces from the first part, They Follow will also add fresh talent to the cast. Joining Monroe in the sequel will be Naomi Ackie. It was revealed last month that the acclaimed actress, who will soon appear in DCU’s Clayface film, would play a character in the next entry. Her past work includes projects such as Lady Macbeth, Mickey 17, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Blink Twice, and Sorry, Babe.
Production on the It Follows sequel will begin this summer. As for the story, it will take place 10 years after the events of the original.
They Follow has yet to receive an official release date window.
