HBO has Game of Thrones, and Netflix has The Witcher, so Prime Video naturally had to introduce its own gritty fantasy series. Of course, this platform's most expensive and highly discussed fantasy TV show is The Rings of Power, but that's not what we are talking about here. Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings prequel has an edge, but thematically and aesthetically, it's Tolkien through and through. Game of Thrones and The Witcher, on the other hand, are known for their dark tone and political themes.
