The Vampire Diaries was once a mighty franchise for The CW, capitalizing on the romance of living forever. In 2022, however, fans were shocked when the second spin-off of the highly successful series, Legacies, was axed, along with many other fan-favorite shows on the network. Legacies only lasted half the time of its flagship series, seemingly putting an end to The Vampire Diaries for good. Co-creator Julie Plec voiced her disappointment at the time, especially because there had been ideas for more content in the future. Though Plec didn’t go into details, she hinted during the I Was Feeling Epic convention at what ideas they had been kicking around.
