Editor's note: The following contains spoilers for 'The Thursday Murder Club'Who doesn't love a true-crime podcast to sink your teeth into? The thrill of feeling a part of a complex investigation is taken to the next level in The Thursday Murder Club, which follows a group of pensioners as they try to solve the murder of Tony Curran (Geoff Bell) and save their retirement home from Ian Ventham (David Tennant), who wants to tear it down and build luxury flats. The Thursday Murder Club primarily follows Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), the most cunning of the group, who is implied to be the former head of MI6, as she and her friends investigate with the help of Donna (Naomi Ackie). As the group gets closer to the truth, they discover more than they bargained for, as their number one suspect changes from Ian Ventham and/or Bobby Tanner (Richard E. Grant), the business partners of Curran, to the reveal that they weren't just solving one case, but two at the same time. The sincerity of Thursday Murder Club's ending paints a sympathetic picture of the lengths we go to protect the ones we love, even commenting on some contemporary world issues one might not expect the film to delve into at first.
