While The Terminal List and its recently released spin-off, Dark Wolf, may have gained a reputation for showcasing some of the fiercest action sequences on television, Chris Pratt has revealed that the most gruesome scene in the original series almost didn’t make it to the show’s final cut. In a recent interview, the Guardians of the Galaxy star opened up about a particularly brutal scene from The Terminal List and how it ended up in the series despite some restrictions from the studio.

Chris Pratt reveals Prime Video almost cut the most violent scene in The Terminal List

During a conversation with Collider‘s Steve Weintraub, Pratt noted that the Terminal List Season 1 Episode 4 sequence, where his character viciously hacks up an assassin, was very close to ending up on the cutting-room floor.

“Yeah, the studio didn’t want us to do it, but we did it, and then it turned out to be the best part,” the actor recalled telling fans. He also remarked that this scene is “one of the things that people talk to you about the most.”

The Terminal List sequence in question entailed Chris Pratt’s ex-Navy SEAL James Reece confronting Albert Valladares’ El Navajas, the hired goon responsible for killing his wife and daughter. After Navajas refuses to answer his questions about the person who ordered the hit on his family, an unhinged Reece makes use of an axe to cut through the assassin’s body, spilling his guts onto the floor in the process.

Pratt then remarked that their determination to maintain “authenticity” allowed The Terminal List team to deliver a high-quality product. “We’re making it authentic,” he said. “I think that authenticity has created something that’s actually pretty refreshing in the marketplace right now…So the idea of going into this thing indifferent to people’s reaction, and unapologetically being authentic to who these guys are, I think that set us up to be successful.”
