Though it has since gone on to become one of the most beloved and appreciated games in the series, The Wind Waker really wasn't what fans were expecting at the time. That was largely thanks to a GameCube tech demo, that showed off a gritty and realistic future for The Legend of Zelda with the increased power of the console.
