Individual Legend of Zelda games have a penchant for building out their own universes. Majora's Mask was a sequel to Ocarina of Time, and there are several games within the Wind Waker timeline. It's a magical ability that few franchises can boast, as Nintendo can adapt pretty much any era of Zelda whenever it feels like it.
