Many shows struggle when continuing without source material, but The Institute season 2 proves that it is mostly up to the challenge. Season 1 was based on Stephen King's 2019 novel, which tells the story of children with telepathic and telekinetic powers being kidnapped by a secret organization for nefarious purposes, while ex-cop Tim Jamieson, now serving as a night knocker, catches wind of the conspiracy.
