It’s almost time for Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) and Dylan Penders’ (Fred Kettle) trial in Emmerdale, which means those involved in the ordeal orchestrated by Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) and Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) are going to get called to give evidence.

And one of those facing questioning will be April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan).

For the majority of last year, April was dealing drugs for Celia and Ray. She was tricked into believing she had a mountain of debt to pay off, and constantly risked her life in an attempt to shift it.

April took on ‘bigger’ jobs from Ray and Celia in an attempt to clear the debt quicker, which involved her spending time with older men who were attracted to her.

April’s boyfriend Dylan, who she met when she was living on the streets, was also dealing for Ray. When the drugs side of this storyline was eventually exposed, April and her family had to try and move forward.

While this was happening, Paddy and Dylan were busy trying to cover up Bear’s murder of Ray, which happened at the start of the year. The trio really tried their best to keep the truth hidden, but traumatised Bear cracked.

DS Walsh (Amanda Ryan) quickly suspected that Bear was hiding something about the day he killed Ray. The determined detective put so much pressure on Bear, she eventually caught him out in a lie.

When Paddy accepted that time had ran out, he went to the police station with Dylan, where they both confessed to covering up Ray’s death. They were charged with perverting the course of justice and soon enough, they’ll learn if they will go to prison.

In upcoming episodes, Paddy discovers that April is going to be called at the trial to give evidence for the prosecution.

Despite her innocence, April knows her testimony will be picked apart when she takes to the stand. If her anxiety gets the better of her, there’s a very real chance she will inadvertently play a part in sending Dylan to prison.

But can April hold her own?
