The biggest sign of Timothée Chalamet’s downfall as his most loyal fanclub shuts down

If you have a social media profile and you’re in the know with pop culture, you have probably heard of Club Chalamet.

Run by Simone Cromer, she’s been cheerleading for Timothée Chalamet since his Call Me By Your Name days, amassing a following of over 80,000 and going viral on several occasions. She’s even had a profile in The Wall Street Journal and has a Wikipedia page.

But while this is no ordinary fan page, it seems the ‘micro-celebrity’s’ support isn’t to be taken for granted, as, in arguably the biggest sign yet that Chalamet’s reputation is on thin ice, she’s moved on.

After almost a decade of helping promote his projects, defending him from critics, and backing him for awards, Cromer, a 59-year-old healthcare worker, has slowly lessened her activity and, following his Oscars loss last weekend, diverted her attention to a different up-and-coming celebrity.

Club Chalamet’s X account has been pretty inactive since the beginning of March, and when the Academy Awards arrived, she was nowhere to be seen.

Chalamet, 30, who attended the ceremony with girlfriend Kylie Jenner, was defeated by Sinners star Michael B. Jordan in the best actor category, having been nominated for his performance in Marty Supreme.

Although Cromer admitted she wasn’t expecting the film to ‘win any’ of a potential nine gongs at all, penning to her Substack subscribers on March 10, two weeks before the big night: ‘I’ve never wanted an Oscar season to end as much as I want this one to end.’

She claimed that somewhat of a ‘smear campaign’ was responsible for Chalamet’s declining popularity in recent weeks, since he made headlines for all the wrong reasons after being branded ‘disrespectful’ towards ballet and opera.

Cromer added: ‘I could only imagine how difficult it would be to sit at that show and possibly be in the front row, again, and be the subject of embarrassing jokes, especially if they are related to ballet and opera, or stupid ping pong activity gags.

‘I cringe very easily, and that would just make me avert my eyes. At least last year, Timmy had the two Oscars that Dune Part 2 won to celebrate.’

‘The jokes can write themselves, but it’s at the expense of a human being who would be a guest at that event,’ she also said, urging Chalamet to remain ‘professional, handsome, and all smiles’ before going home and ‘reexamining his life and career’ and ‘stay out of the limelight until time to promote Dune Part 3 later this year.’

And after the loss, Cromer seized the opportunity to throw shade, proving that, despite the lack of public commentary, she had been watching all along.

On her personal account, she reposted a sassy comment from @femiiiszn, which read: ‘Defending a person and then experiencing why nobody likes them is very humbling.’

Cromer added: ‘I feel seen.’

‘I really am so thrilled for Michael B. Jordan,’ she also wrote, without expressing any form of commiseration for her own once-beloved A-lister.

But Cromer, who certainly isn’t shy when it comes to ruffling feathers with her opinions, having first gone viral for disapproving of his romance with Jenner, didn’t stop there.

She also reposted a New York Times article that analysed the reasons why Chalamet failed once more to take home a trophy.

The breakdown suggested that Marty Supreme’s flashy campaign and Chalamet’s so-called arrogance in interviews were his downfall, as Jordan was more humble in his approach.

Soon enough, Cromer decided that enough was enough. Despite having expressed sympathy for Chalamet, she said after the Oscars that his ‘tone-deaf self-awareness’ is what ‘led to this point’, and that her longtime ‘absolute best die-hard supporter efforts’ were no longer fulfilling her.

As for what he must do next, she said: ‘He must conduct a deep-dive self-evaluation and correct course with a new team.

‘He needs new people in his life who actually care about him and his career. I place the blame largely on his agency, UTA, his managers, and his PR team.

‘Timmy has too many yes people on his team, and many others are riding his coattails for their own fame.’

So, who else has caught her eye? Well, like much of the internet, Cromer is a Heated Rivalry fan.

She’s now running a private community for its lead star, 25-year-old Connor Storrie, who plays Ilya Rozanov in the hit TV series that’s catapulted both him and Hudson Williams to unprecedented fame.

Weeks ago, in fact, she attempted to establish a new page, but Storrie Times was mass reported and suspended on Instagram less than 24 hours after it was created.

In true Club Chalamet style, though, Cromer was not to be beaten while down and has since made a Tumblr called Storrie Glorrie – sorry, Timmy.

Although Cromer isn’t the only one turning her back on him, despite him knowing of her and that she’s run his fansite for years.

Over recent months, others have announced their disdain for his ‘cringe’, given how he called Marty Supreme his best acting yet after giving ‘top-of-the-line performances’ for the last ‘seven, eight’ years. Chalamet defended himself afterwards, claiming he was channelling the ‘spirit’ of his alter ego.

Chalamet then put his foot in it once more by slating ballet and opera, saying he ‘[didn’t] want to be working’ in the fields where it’s like, “Hey! Keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore”.’

‘All respect to the ballet and opera people out there,’ he quickly added, obviously expecting to catch heat.

‘I just lost 14 cents in viewership. I’m taking shots for no reason,’ he quipped. And, well, now we know that it has come true.

Hopefully, Dune: Part Three can salvage his career and his fanbase before Cromer takes them all with her.
