The concept of literature exploring dark imagined futures where Earth has become ravaged by time has existed since the 19th century. However, the modern dystopian genre was born somewhere around the 1920s, following the terrors and trauma of World War I. Since then, the genre has only kept evolving and growing in popularity as the years have passed, and somewhere around the late 20th century, authors started daring to craft entire trilogies set in enrapturing dystopian worlds.
