While ghosts and ghouls can be frightening, there is perhaps nothing scarier than having one’s body endure torturous transformations. Numerous filmmakers have made entire careers out of our collective fear of corporeal mutilation, as they churn out movies that exploit the most horrifying physical tragedies possible (that still only garner an “R” rating).
