For the second week in a row, Tyler Perry‘s sequel movie starring Taraji P. Henson has topped Netflix’s charts, coming in at No. 1. The third film in the franchise, it is directed and written by Perry.
Why Did I Get Married Again? has held its position at the top of the chart for 14 days. The film, per Netflix, has amassed 9.7 million views.

The comedy-drama, a threequel to Why Did I Get Married?, has a star-studded cast, which, apart from Henson, includes Jill Scott, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Armani Greer, Everett Osborne, and Richard T. Jones, among others.
The film focuses on Greer’s Jasmine and Osborne’s Wesley getting married. However, the father of the bride disapproves of the upcoming nuptials. This causes the couples who have come to celebrate the two to question their own relationships. Why Did I Get Married Too?, which is the installment that came before the current one, saw a spike in viewership as well. It came in at number 10 last week. However, the sequel to Why Did I Get Married? seemingly dropped off the Top 10 list in the second week.
The movie is the fifth collaboration between Tyler Perry and Taraji P. Henson, who is new to the franchise. The Family That Preys, I Can Do Bad All by Myself, Acrimony, and Straw are some previous collaborations of the duo.
Despite the love that the film has been receiving and the streaming numbers that are backing its popularity, the movie has received a lukewarm response from critics. It sits at a 5.3/10 on IMDb and has a 40% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience score for the film is only slightly better, coming in at 48%. Even with the film receiving moderate ratings, viewers seem to be enjoying Perry’s writing and what the cast has to offer.
