SWAT Exiles Cancellation Status Confirmed by Shemar Moore Already

S.W.A.T. Exiles just dodged the curse that plagued its predecessor before even premiering. Shemar Moore revealed a major update about the spinoff’s future in an exclusive interview with ScreenRant.

S.W.A.T. Exiles won’t face the same cancellation troubles as its predecessor, as Season 2 already has a filming window secured. Shemar Moore revealed the update ahead of the spinoff’s premiere on Starz this Friday.

The second season of S.W.A.T. Exiles begins filming this fall. Moore shared that he is working hard to prepare physically for the return. “I’m in the gym two hours a day, five days a week,” he said, adding he also does cardio at his home gym.

Moore admitted the process has become more challenging with age. “Working out was way easier 15, 20 years ago,” he said. The 56-year-old actor also uses a sauna, a cold plunge, deep-tissue massages, and physical therapy to stay ready.

The physical demands of the show require peak fitness from the entire cast. Each episode takes eight days to film, with the first four dedicated to action sequences. “You can’t do the show S.W.A.T. unless you’re in shape,” Moore said. Those action days involve running, choreographed fights, jumping over cars, and escaping simulated explosions.

Moore expressed gratitude that the spinoff only requires 10 episodes per season. The original S.W.A.T. series often demanded 20 or more episodes, stretching production across ten and a half months. “It’s a lot, it’s a grind,” he said about the previous schedule.

Despite the shorter season, Moore remains committed to delivering a believable performance. “When you see me on the screen, I want you to believe me,” he said. He wants to bring authenticity to Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson Jr., who comes out of retirement to lead untested recruits.
