Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker has condemned the brutal and horrific killing of a 35-year-old sewadaar at Delhi's Kalkaji Temple. For the unversed, on September 1, Swara had strongly reacted to a CCTV video which showed men beating the sewadaar. The actress was quick to react to the incident and call it as "ghastly and horrific".

The actress had used her official X account to share her perspective. "This is absolutely ghastly and horrific!!! Lynching people to death has become a norm in India jarring and chilling to the core," she penned.

She further added, "Shameful and says something truly disturbing about our society. We've turned into monsters."

What exactly had happened?

For the unversed, the incident took place on late at night (August 29) when a fight over the distribution of prasad turned into violence. The victim, Yogendra Singh, was allegedly attacked after he refused a group's demand for chunni prasad. He had given almost 15 years of service at the temple. According to reports, Singh had explained that the stock had run out. But the argument soon turned violent.

Until now, five men have been put behind bars in connection with the case. Atul Pandey, the main accused, was caught by locals. On Saturday, police officials confirmed that the rest of the accused - Mohan alias Bhura, his cousin Kuldeep Bidhuri, Nitin Pandey, and Anil Kumar - were also arrested. According to Delhi Police, multiple teams have been deployed to track other suspects.
