Key Takeaways
Saylor’s hint preceded a confirmed purchase
A day earlier, Coindoo reported that Michael Saylor had hinted at another Bitcoin purchase. Strategy’s August 31 Form 8-K turned that signal into a confirmed transaction.
The company purchased 4,603 BTC between August 24 and August 30 for $369.7 million, including fees and expenses with average price of $80,318 per Bitcoin.
At a Bitcoin price of approximately $78,400 at the time of writing, Strategy’s 845,050 BTC position would be worth about $66.25 billion, implying an unrealized gain of roughly $2.52 billion, or 4%, against its reported average cost.
MSTR share sales funded four uses
Strategy sold 4,531,421 shares of its Class A common stock during the same week and received $602.8 million after commissions. It reported no sales of its STRF, STRC, STRK or STRD preferred shares during the period.
The filing identified the following uses for the MSTR proceeds:
$369.7 million funded the Bitcoin purchase. $151.8 million funded STRC share repurchases. $50.7 million funded dividends on STRC stock. $30 million increased Strategy’s USD Cash account.Strategy has acquired 4,603 BTC for $370M, increased USD Cash by $29M, and repurchased $152M of $STRC. As of 8/30/26, we hold 845,050 bitcoin:native and $6.71B of USD Assets, bringing Net Leverage to 0.0%. $MSTRhttps://t.co/yncvo2BVSH

The purchase offset two-thirds of recent Bitcoin sales
The new purchase followed four Bitcoin sales completed between late June and early August:
June 30: 1,363 BTC sold for approximately $81 million. July 6: 2,225 BTC sold for approximately $135 million. August 3: 1,638 BTC sold for approximately $105 million. August 10: 1,690 BTC sold for approximately $109 million.Together, those transactions removed 6,916 BTC from Strategy’s holdings. Buying 4,603 BTC offset approximately 66.6% of that amount.
6,916 BTC sold minus 4,603 BTC purchased = 2,313 BTC still to recover.Strategy would need to acquire another 2,313 BTC to return to its position before the four sales. At the latest average purchase price of $80,318, that amount would cost approximately $185.8 million. The actual cost would change with Bitcoin’s market price.
Strategy now holds 845,050 BTC
As of August 30, Strategy held 845,050 BTC acquired for a combined $63.73 billion. Its average purchase price across the full position was $75,412 per bitcoin, including fees and expenses.
Returning fully to the pre-sale coin count would lift the balance to 847,363 BTC. The latest acquisition therefore marks a return to buying, but it has not yet erased the reduction created by the four earlier sales.
Strategy also repurchased 1,557,177 STRC shares for $151.8 million. It reported a $5.10 billion USD Reserve and $1.61 billion in USD Cash at the end of the period.
