Royalties and song credits are one of the main sources of controversy in the music world. Particularly in bands, it's almost impossible to establish who contributed more to a song. The Police are obviously no exception. The rock 'n' roll trio had countless hits in the '80s before abruptly breaking up while at the height of their career, following the release of their most successful album, Synchronicity. That album contained arguably their biggest hit, "Every Breath You Take," attributed to Gordon Matthew Sumner, better known as Sting. But for decades, guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland argued that their contributions were overlooked, and that, while Sting originally brought in the song, he was ready to scrap it as he couldn't make it work. Over 40 years since its release, The Police members are finally demanding retribution.
