While Netflix enjoys the success of East of Eden, Prime Video is prepping for the release of an entirely different (but just as influential) literary adaptation. This week, the streamer will debut a new and updated limited series based on Stephen King's first-ever novel. The book has famously been adapted previously into a 1976 movie directed by Brian De Palma, and then a remake directed by Kimberly Peirce and released in 2013. The new version counts King himself as an executive producer, with his longtime collaborator, the legendary Mike Flanagan, serving as creator. Flanagan previously directed the King adaptations Gerald's Game, Doctor Sleep, and The Life of Chuck.
