Having now topped the domestic box office for the sixth weekend in a row, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is in rarefied air. This past weekend, it became only the second movie in history to gross more than $900 million at the domestic box office. The film's global haul now stands at $2.4 billion, making it the third-biggest hit of all time, behind only Avengers: Endgame and Avatar. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day's success is all the more remarkable because it came on the heels of the epic Spider-Man: No Way Home, whose multiverse-hopping narrative seemed impossible to top. As it turns out, fans were hungry for a more grounded Spider-Man adventure, and that's exactly what Spider-Man: Brand New Day gave them.
