For almost 30 years, Lara Croft has been an icon of pop culture. With 12 full games, three films, and two animated series, Tomb Raider’s popularity is undeniable — but in the adventure of adaptation, there’s still plenty to explore. The 2000s films are notorious, thanks to Angelina Jolie, but the generic action barely reflects the games’ puzzles and lore. The latest film, 2018’s Tomb Raider, adapted Lara in a more grounded way, taking inspiration from the 2013 reboot of the games, but it failed to leave a lasting impression.
