Another SNL Star Isn’t Returning for Season 51, Issues Statement(Image Credit: NBC)

Another Saturday Night Live cast member is leaving the show ahead of its 51st season, joining two other stars in what now looks to be a big change for the sketch comedy show.

What star is leaving SNL ahead of its 51st season?

According to a report from Deadline, Michael Longfellow is exiting the series after three years as a member of the show. Longfellow, who joined as a featured player in Season 48, was promoted to the main cast ahead of its 50th season. He frequented many skits, and was also a consistent presence on the show’s Weekend Update segment.

It’s unclear as of now whether Longfellow is leaving the series on his own or if he was asked to exit. His exit does come as a bit of a surprise, though, as SNL-specific insiders recently reported that Longfellow was screen-tested as a potential replacement for Michael Che and Colin Jost as a host of Weekend Update.

Longfellow joins other cast members Devon Walker and Emil Wakim, as well as writers Celeste Yim and Rosebud Baker, as members of the series leaving ahead of its 51s season.

In an interview with Puck last week, legendary producer Lorne Michaels said that SNL would see some changes coming to the show, though it’s unclear exactly what else is planned for the show.

Saturday Night Live is currently set to premiere its 51st season on NBC on October 4, 2025. No host or musical guest has been announced for the episode as of yet.
