Serena’s big secret ‘revealed’ ahead of major Emmerdale return

What is Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) actually doing in Emmerdale? It’s a question that’s being asked a lot right now, and some fans have potentially worked out the answer.

The newcomer, who is Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) distant cousin, was introduced to us last month.

After helping Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), Serena made her way to the village to find Robert. At the time, he was in Portugal, so Serena spent a few days connecting with Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill).

When Robert returned, Serena moved into Emmerdale Farm. Things were challenging from the very start for her, as she had to prove to multiple people that she wasn’t the same as John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).

Serena has now managed to convince Robert and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) that she isn’t following in the footsteps of her crazed relative. In an attempt to reassure her new housemates, Serena recently said that she’d be 100% honest with them moving forward.

This very quickly went out the window, as it was later revealed that Serena had stolen a USB stick from Home Farm.

At the moment, we don’t know much about why Serena wants information on the Tates, but the one thing we do know is that she’s communicating with someone over text about it.

But who?

Fans of the ITV soap are beginning to wonder if Serena might be messaging a certain Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) about the progress she’s making in Home Farm.

The iconic character is returning to our screens this year, which means a storyline to bring her back to the Dales is bound to kick off soon.

While Sadie never crossed paths with Kim Tate (Claire King) when she was in the Dales, they are both known for being iconic superbitches. They are similar in the sense they are both manipulative and ruthlessly ambitious, and will stop at nothing to secure wealth and status.

Ahead of her dramatic comeback, it’s possible Sadie believes she can take Home Farm from Kim, and is using Serena as a spy.

Interestingly, Sadie actually used to live there, which definitely increases her chances that she thinks she’s got what it takes to destroy Kim and move back in.

As the speculation continues, mutiple people have now taken to social media platform X to share the theory about Sadie and Serena.

Nathan wrote: ‘Serena definitely working for Sadie King’.

In agreement, Ryan said: ‘Serena is putting fire with fire. I wonder if she’s working with Sadie King ahead of her return?’.

Another Emmerdale lover added to the speculation and shared: ‘Is Serena working for Sadie?? I have no idea what she is up to…’.

Leroy wondered: ‘Was it Serena then? Laying the ground for Sadie? #Emmerdale’.

Reflecting on the anxiety Serena has that she might face legal consequences for whatever she’s up to right now, star Casey Al-Shaqsy said: ’That is in the back of her mind, some things more than others. She knows how to cover her tracks, she knows how to look after herself, and she knows how to do things without getting caught. She knows how to bend the rules to suit herself. So, I think she’s less worried in that way.

‘She essentially thinks that if she gets caught, there’s no way it’s going to stick. But she always has that in the back of her mind – whether she’s really worried or not – thinking, “Can I get away with this? Will I get away with it, and how?”

‘She thinks about everything incredibly logically before she does it. So, there isn’t that sort of panic where it’s like, “Have I messed up?” She does everything completely by herself, and that’s why she’s in the house on her own – because she knows she can handle herself and fix it.’
