Doctor Who was supposed to air one more episode this year in the form of its 2026 Christmas special. While plot details weren't initially revealed, showrunner Russell T Davies said he would begin work on it after the release of the spin-off The War Between the Land and the Sea. However, the end of the Disney+ deal also meant the end of Doctor Who for the time being, including the planned Christmas special, with the series not expected to return to television until a new producer could be found.
