Scary Movie had a fantastic opening weekend at the box office, and its success is a great sign for a 2027 spoof comedy. The parody movie subgenre has produced many of Hollywood's most classic comedies. Some of the most notable names within the subgenre are Jim Abrahams, and David and Jerry Zucker, who helmed Airplane! and The Naked Gun, Mel Brooks, who directed and co-wrote films, like Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein, and Mike Myers who wrote and starred in the Austin Powers trilogy.
