Judgement day has arrived for Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) on Coronation Street. She did the crime. But will she do the time?

This is it, folks. The week where we learn whether Weatherfield’s girl next door will effectively exit the show for good, with a life sentence for the murder of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).

Nobody’s shedding any tears over Theo. The man was a vicious abuser who terrorised Sarah’s best friend Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) behind closed doors. However, soap justice must be done.

Sarah pushed Theo off the rooftop to his death during a terrifying confrontation. The vile monster was dredging up a lot of stuff from her past to hurt her – such as the baby she lost with Todd all those years ago. It could also be argued Sarah acted in anger… which would be catastrophic for her self-defence plea.

Another damning piece of evidence is the fact that she kept her killing secret for weeks, choosing instead to confide in her ex, Gary Windass (Mikey North), then her other ex, copper DS Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) – who was totally up for framing the first ex for the crime.

However, the walls came crashing down when Sarah was arrested by DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers).

She’s been starring in her own version of Orange Is The New Platt ever since, stuck in a prison cell and forced to break things off with Kit. Probably just as well, seeing as he slept with her daughter Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon).

All caught up? Good.

Get ready for an old-fashioned soap trial filled with thrills, spills, and dramatic moments galore, with a verdict that will change Sarah’s entire life forever, in next week’s trip to Coronation Street.

With the trial looming, Sarah asks Kit to act as a character reference for her. But Kit’s secretly got other things on his mind and refuses.

When Bethany confronts him to reconsider, Kit finally drops the bombshell – he has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy. What will Bethany say?

Bethany puts pressure on Kit to come clean to Sarah about his cancer before her trial but he refuses point blank.

Bethany and Todd visit Sarah. When a defeated Sarah tells them she understands Kit’s decision not to help her, Todd blurts out that Kit’s got breast cancer. Sarah reels in shock.

Bethany begs Sarah to let Gary carry the can for Theo’s murder, pointing out that she needs her, Kit needs her and Harry needs her. Sarah’s torn. What will Sarah do?

Then comes Sarah’s day in court. Sahe surveys her prison cell, worried it might be her home for many years.

in court, the prosecution barrister tells the jury how Sarah was so angered by Theo’s treatment of Todd that she took the law into her own hands and killed him. When Lisa and Theo’s wife Danielle take the witness stand, the trial takes a devastating turn for Sarah.

Is the trial over before it’s even begun?

What will the verdict be in Sarah's murder trial?

Innocent - she pushed Theo in self-defenceCheck
Guilty- she lost her temper and pushed him on purposeCheck

That would be telling! But whatever happened, it must have been pretty damning as a raging David accuses Lisa of sabotaging Sarah’s defence.

He then turns his attention to Kit and tears a strip off him for the lack of support. Kit loses his temper and tells David and Bethany he wants nothing more to do with their family.

When Tyrone clocks Todd heading into the undertakers and queries why he isn’t in court, Todd admits that he can’t face it.

In the courtroom, the prosecution barrister rips into Sarah. Having been convinced by Tyrone that he owes it to himself and Sarah to tell the truth, Todd takes the stand and defends Sarah.

Later, Bethany puts pressure on Kit to step up to the plate, not only for Sarah’s sake but for Harry’s too. Will Kit agree?

Bethany tells David that Sarah’s barrister called and Kit won’t be attending court.

At the trial, the prosecution barrister questions Gary. Meanwhile an upset Bethany hurries out of the courtroom, returns home and puts pressure on Kit to do the right thing.
