Oscar Isaac is no stranger to the Star Wars universe, and recently teased a potential return to the franchise in an upcoming movie.
Who might show up in Star Wars: Starfighter?
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on at the Toronto International Film Festival, Isaac was asked if he’d ever be open to joining the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter as pilot Poe Dameron, and reuniting with Ryan Gosling after their appearances in 2011’s Drive. Isaac seemed enthusiastic about the prospect, and said he was ready.
“Star Wars, right! We’ll see, I mean yeah!” and “I’m ready for it. You let me know when,” Isaac said.
Isaac hasn’t appeared in a Star Wars project since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, where he closed out the new Star Wars sequel trilogy as Dameron. Since Starfighter does take place shortly after and features various pilots, it could be a great place for Isaac to return.
Currently, pretty much nothing is known about the mysterious Starfighter. The film will star Ryan Gosling in the lead role, with a star-studded cast that also features Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Flynn Gray, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams.

Star Wars: Starfighter will take place approximately five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and will be a standalone project, according to Levy. “This is a standalone. It’s not a prequel, not a sequel. It’s a new adventure. It’s set in a period of time that we haven’t seen explored yet.”
Star Wars: Starfighter will be released in United States theaters on May 28, 2027, from Lucasfilm. The only other Star Wars movie with a theatrical release date at this time is The Mandalorian and Grogu, which arrives about a year earlier, on May 22, 2026.
