Ryan Gosling will no longer appear in the next project of The Daniels, aka Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the directors of “Everything Everywhere All at Once”.

Deadline reports that Gosling was in negotiations to star, and the film was set to shoot in Los Angeles this summer after receiving a California Tax Credit. However, scheduling could not be worked out. Thus, Gosling’s deal didn’t close.

The production is reportedly locked into its filming dates, and so both Universal and Daniels are now seeking replacements and will likely have plenty of options to choose from.

The “Project Hail Mary” star was first linked to the $150 million sci-fi adventure/comedy last week. The event film, set up at Universal Pictures, will begin shooting this Summer ahead of a planned November 19th 2027 release.

Plot specifics are under wraps, though Kwan revealed at SXSW last month that it’s a ‘very existential’ film and a “fun sci-fi, action comedy”. An ensemble of young talent is also reportedly being sought for the film.

Kwan, Scheinert and Jonathan Wang will produce the film. Gosling most recently filmed Shawn Levy’s “Star Wars: Starfighter” which opens next May.
