Aliyah Boston has signed the richest total contract in WNBA history.

The three-time all-star and 2023 No. 1 pick has signed a four-year, $6.3 million contract extension with the Indiana Fever, ESPN’s Alexa Philippou reported on Friday.

Boston is set to make $1 million in 2026 and then 20 per cent of the cap through to 2029. She was eligible to sign for $1.19 million, the standard max deal amount this season, but chose to accept less money to give the Fever more financial freedom when building the roster.

A new EPIC (Exceptional Performance on Initial Contract) provision in the CBA makes the 24-year-old forward eligible for such an increased contract. Under the newly negotiated terms, and because Boston had previously earned an all-WNBA selection, she was able to replace what she was set to earn in 2026 with this improved deal. The new terms also accelerate her towards a max contract.

The 2023 Rookie of the Year averaged 15 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game last season. She has been a cornerstone of the Fever’s rebuild over the last three seasons and has been extremely productive while playing alongside Caitlin Clark.
